A Place for Home, Hope, and Healing
Restoration House exists to help young women ages 18–24 build healthy, independent lives through safe housing, life-skills development, mentoring, and supportive relationships.
We believe every young woman deserves a safe place to live, people who believe in her, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Why Restoration House Matters
Every year, more than 23,000 young people age out of foster care in the United States.
Many face significant challenges as they enter adulthood:
1 in 5
Experience homelessness
Only Half are employed by age 24
Many struggle with trauma, isolation, and a lack of support
Few have access to stable housing and healthy mentorship
Restoration House exists to change those outcomes.
By providing housing, life-skills training, mentoring, and community, we help young women build a strong foundation for the future
Our Vision For Every Resident
Our Story
The Beginning
Restoration House of Northern Michigan began with a simple desire: to help young women find healing, hope, and a place to belong.
Founder Carol VanRandwyk Frazier has a deep compassion for girls and women impacted by abuse, neglect, and trauma. Having experienced her own difficult journey, she understands the life-changing impact of safe relationships, encouragement, and support.
Carol’s husband, Tom Frazier, shares her heart for serving others and has a passion for restoring historic homes.
The Vision
When Carol and Tom discovered an eight-bedroom historic house in Northern Michigan, they began to imagine what it could become.
More than a house, they saw the possibility of a safe and supportive home where young women could find stability, community, and a fresh start.
That vision became Restoration House: a place designed to provide Home, Hope, and Healing for young women as they build a foundation for independent living.
The Journey
In January 2021, the Fraziers purchased the home and began the work of restoring it.
With the support of their church and community, the Restoration House of Northern Michigan Board was formed in late 2021, bringing together people who shared a passion for helping young women thrive.
Since then, the team has worked diligently to prepare the home for future residents, complete necessary renovations, meet safety and code requirements, and learn from similar ministries across the country.
Restoration House is a Christ-centered organization.
We believe every person is created with purpose and value, and that true hope and transformation are possible through healthy relationships, supportive community, and faith in Jesus Christ.
While our mission is rooted in Christian beliefs, we welcome young women of all faith backgrounds—or no faith background at all. Every resident will be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Our desire is to create a safe environment where young women can grow, heal, and discover their unique purpose.
Building a Home for the Future
Our historic home is being thoughtfully restored to provide a safe, welcoming environment where young women can build a foundation for independent living
